Discover How Our 'Moving Day Goodie Bags' and Eco-Friendly Essentials from Who Gives A Crap Elevate Tenant Experience and Sustainability

We Give a Crap About Our Tenants

Put yourself in your tenant’s shoes – it’s the Big Day… Wait, not THAT big day, the other big day: MOVING DAY! Your friends have helped you pack up vehicles and boxes and transported all your stuff to your new rental home. Pizza arrives. People are hydrating. And THEN, someone goes to use the restroom. Suddenly, out of the blue, a problem:

Where did we pack the toilet paper???  Panic sets in… It’s got to be in ONE of these boxes! But which one???

As familiar as this scene may be, it isn’t something your tenants have to worry about since we at Tranquility go the extra mile and provide “moving day goodie bags” for all our residents. What’s inside? Bottled water. Paper towels. And toilet paper! We understand that moving into a new home can be a stressful experience and having essential items readily available saves tenants the hassle of searching frantically for, or immediately having to purchase, these items. It adds a level of convenience and helps tenants settle into their new home more comfortably. It also creates a positive first impression and makes our tenants feel valued and cared for.

But wait – there’s more!

The toilet paper and paper towels we provide are made from 100% recycled paper, drop-shipped directly to us by Who Gives A Crap, leaders in the field of recycled and sustainable toilet paper and paper towels. Their products are made from environmentally friendly materials, and they donate a significant portion of their profits to charity. By offering these products in the welcome bag, Tranquility contributes to a more sustainable and eco-friendly living environment. This aligns with our Benefit Corporation value of good stewardship and a Who Gives A Crap coupon in the welcome bag encourages tenants to make sustainable choices in their daily lives.

My wife and I first learned about Who Gives A Crap from our daughter who treated us to our first shipment and drew our attention to the “Toilet Paper Sustainability Scorecard” (bonus points to anyone who has ever heard of this before reading this sentence). Who Gives A Crap scores an A+, while our usual brand was a solid F. We signed up for regular deliveries and like it so much we now share this sustainable and affordable product with our tenants. Every little bit helps. If you’d like more information, or that coupon code to try Who Gives A Crap for yourself, please feel free to reach out.

We’re in this together.

Over the years, we’ve spent a lot of time talking about residents, and for good reason . People who feel secure in their housing tend to stay longer, take pride in where they live, and contribute to the neighborhoods they’re part of. That’s beneficial for communities, and it’s also beneficial for rental property owners. But lately, there’s been more conversation around what it means to be pro-housing. And while building more homes is part of that solution, it’s also important to talk about the people who provide the rental housing that already exists in communities like La Mesa and throughout San Diego County. A recent opinion piece in the Times of San Diego, You Can’t Be Pro-Housing and Ignore the People Who Provide It , highlights something we see every day in our work as a local property management company. Most rental housing in San Diego isn’t owned by large corporations. It’s owned by individuals and community members. In fact, despite growing public attention on institutional investment in housing , research suggests that large institutional investors own fewer than 5% of detached single-family homes locally and may not be a dominant driver of overall housing costs in San Diego. Nationally, the single-family rental market remains overwhelmingly dominated by individual owners. According to recent BatchData analysis, 89.6% of single-family rental homes are owned by “mom-and-pop” landlords who hold between one and five properties . People renting out a condo they once lived in, a home they inherited, a duplex purchased as part of a retirement plan, or a single investment property meant to help build long-term financial stability.
