This month we’ve been proud to support three amazing local organizations! La Mesa National Little League, The Animal Pad, and The Boys & Girls Club of East County

March 2024 was a busy month for us in terms of community involvement!

Tranquility Property Management and Real Estate Services was proud to be the Marquee Sponsor of the 2024 fundraising auction, dinner, and gala celebrating and supporting the
Boys and Girls Club of East County. Located adjacent to the La Mesa Arts Academy, the club serves as a haven for local children and teenagers. Its mission revolves around providing a safe and supportive environment where young individuals can engage in constructive activities, sports and educational programs, and character-building initiatives. The club aims to empower and inspire East County youth by fostering personal development, academic success, and positive social interactions. Through a range of diverse programs, the Boys and Girls Club of East County strives to nurture the potential of each child, helping them grow into confident, responsible, and compassionate members of their community.

The“Diamonds and Denim” event was so inspiring – seeing so many members of the community come together to ensure that kids looking for afterschool programs are never turned away for lack of funds was absolutely amazing. My family have long been supporters of this club and we were so honored to spend the evening with them. It’s always a privilege and pleasure to shine the spotlight of attention on organizations in our community doing amazing work. If you are unfamiliar with the mission of the Boys and Girls Club and would like more information, I would be happy to assist.

And if that wasn’t enough…! The following weekend we were excited to get a two-for-one when it comes to community partnerships. As a former little leaguer, I am beyond excited that Tranquility is the Hall of Fame Sponsors of
La Mesa National Little League’s 2024 season. La Mesa National Little League not only emphasizes skill development but also instills important values such as respect, discipline, and fair play. With dedicated coaches, supportive families, and a passion for the game, the league stands as a cornerstone of youth athletics in La Mesa, providing memorable experiences and contributing to the growth and character development of its young participants.

As the Hall of Fame Sponsors, Tranquility was offered a booth on Opening Day at Kuhlken Field, a block from our office. Rather than hand out property management brochures and business cards, we decided to donate our booth to an organization in La Mesa that is doing spectacular work:
The Animal Pad.

The Animal Pad, located on the east side of Mt. Helix, is a non-profit whose mission is to provide a second chance to abandoned, neglected, and abused dogs. The organization, driven by a passionate team of volunteers and advocates, works tirelessly to rescue dogs from high-kill shelters, offering them a safe haven and the necessary medical care they deserve. The Animal Pad also places a strong emphasis on finding loving and responsible forever homes for these animals, promoting adoption as a means to reduce the homeless pet population. Through community outreach, educational initiatives, and adoption events, The Animal Pad plays a vital role in creating a compassionate and humane environment for animals.

What an absolute gift it is to be home, here in La Mesa, where a sense of community and togetherness pervades. I love my hometown and the three organizations we’ve had the pleasure of partnering with this month truly represent the best anyone can hope to find here in The Jewel of the Hills!

Over the years, we’ve spent a lot of time talking about residents, and for good reason . People who feel secure in their housing tend to stay longer, take pride in where they live, and contribute to the neighborhoods they’re part of. That’s beneficial for communities, and it’s also beneficial for rental property owners. But lately, there’s been more conversation around what it means to be pro-housing. And while building more homes is part of that solution, it’s also important to talk about the people who provide the rental housing that already exists in communities like La Mesa and throughout San Diego County. A recent opinion piece in the Times of San Diego, You Can’t Be Pro-Housing and Ignore the People Who Provide It , highlights something we see every day in our work as a local property management company. Most rental housing in San Diego isn’t owned by large corporations. It’s owned by individuals and community members. In fact, despite growing public attention on institutional investment in housing , research suggests that large institutional investors own fewer than 5% of detached single-family homes locally and may not be a dominant driver of overall housing costs in San Diego. Nationally, the single-family rental market remains overwhelmingly dominated by individual owners. According to recent BatchData analysis, 89.6% of single-family rental homes are owned by “mom-and-pop” landlords who hold between one and five properties . People renting out a condo they once lived in, a home they inherited, a duplex purchased as part of a retirement plan, or a single investment property meant to help build long-term financial stability.

2025 was a busy one at Tranquility. Behind the scenes, it was filled with everyday moments that make up property management: maintenance requests, move-ins, move-outs, showings, conversations, and problem-solving. All the things that keep homes running smoothly and communities supported (plus a few fun moments and life milestones sprinkled in).

California lawmakers didn’t take it easy this year. A record number of new housing laws were passed in 2025, and several go into effect on January 1, 2026, directly impacting rental property owners. The good news? We’re already on it. At Tranquility Property Management, we closely track legislative changes so your properties stay compliant, protected, and well-positioned—without you needing to read through pages of legal language. Here’s a clear, landlord-friendly breakdown of the most important updates.
