Cats & Community: Supporting Organizations We Love

Rescue House & La Mesa National Little League

At Tranquility Property Management and Real Estate Services, we’re always looking for meaningful ways to give back. Whether it’s sponsoring a local event or supporting a cause that’s close to our hearts (and paws), we believe in being hands-on when it comes to community involvement.

This month, we were proud to partner with La Mesa National Little League and a local nonprofit we adore: Rescue House, a cat rescue organization doing life-saving work right here in San Diego.

Little League, Big Heart

As longtime supporters of La Mesa National Little League, we were excited to kick off the 2025 season as Hall of Fame Sponsors. There’s something special about Opening Day—kids in their fresh uniforms, families gathering in the stands, the buzz of community pride in the air. We were lucky enough to host a booth at Kuhlken Field, just a block from our office, to join in the fun.

But instead of setting up a typical real estate tent, we wanted to do something a little more impactful.

So, we shared our booth with Rescue House!

Rescue House = Cat Lovers with a Mission

Rescue House is a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming cats across San Diego. Their network of foster families and volunteers works tirelessly to give every cat a second chance at a happy life. From abandoned strays to shelter kitties in need of TLC, Rescue House ensures they get the medical care, love, and attention they deserve.

As cat lovers ourselves, this cause hits home. Getting to spotlight their mission in a family-friendly, high-energy setting like Little League Opening Day felt like the perfect opportunity to spread the word—and share some fuzzy faces!

We loved watching curious kids (and just as many adults) visit the booth, learn about cat rescue, and consider adoption or donations. There were paw print stickers, cat toys, and lots of “awws” from passersby. It was the kind of community moment we live for.

Why We Support Our Communities

Our commitment to community runs deep. We’re more than just a local business—we’re your neighbors. Supporting organizations like Rescue House and LMNLL is just one of the ways we stay connected and give back to the place we call home.

Whether we’re helping you find a new rental, manage your property, or buy your dream home, we believe in doing good along the way. Because that’s what Tranquility is all about—creating peace of mind while helping our community thrive.

There’s nothing quite like being home in La Mesa—where community isn’t just a word, it’s a way of life. We feel so lucky to live and work in a place where kindness, connection, and local pride run deep. The organizations we partnered with this month are a perfect reflection of what makes 'The Jewel of the Hills' shine so bright.

Over the years, we’ve spent a lot of time talking about residents, and for good reason . People who feel secure in their housing tend to stay longer, take pride in where they live, and contribute to the neighborhoods they’re part of. That’s beneficial for communities, and it’s also beneficial for rental property owners. But lately, there’s been more conversation around what it means to be pro-housing. And while building more homes is part of that solution, it’s also important to talk about the people who provide the rental housing that already exists in communities like La Mesa and throughout San Diego County. A recent opinion piece in the Times of San Diego, You Can’t Be Pro-Housing and Ignore the People Who Provide It , highlights something we see every day in our work as a local property management company. Most rental housing in San Diego isn’t owned by large corporations. It’s owned by individuals and community members. In fact, despite growing public attention on institutional investment in housing , research suggests that large institutional investors own fewer than 5% of detached single-family homes locally and may not be a dominant driver of overall housing costs in San Diego. Nationally, the single-family rental market remains overwhelmingly dominated by individual owners. According to recent BatchData analysis, 89.6% of single-family rental homes are owned by “mom-and-pop” landlords who hold between one and five properties . People renting out a condo they once lived in, a home they inherited, a duplex purchased as part of a retirement plan, or a single investment property meant to help build long-term financial stability.

2025 was a busy one at Tranquility. Behind the scenes, it was filled with everyday moments that make up property management: maintenance requests, move-ins, move-outs, showings, conversations, and problem-solving. All the things that keep homes running smoothly and communities supported (plus a few fun moments and life milestones sprinkled in).

California lawmakers didn’t take it easy this year. A record number of new housing laws were passed in 2025, and several go into effect on January 1, 2026, directly impacting rental property owners. The good news? We’re already on it. At Tranquility Property Management, we closely track legislative changes so your properties stay compliant, protected, and well-positioned—without you needing to read through pages of legal language. Here’s a clear, landlord-friendly breakdown of the most important updates.

At Tranquility Property Management, we’ve always believed that creating great spaces goes beyond four walls. It’s about nurturing community — places where people thrive, connect, and create. That’s why we’re especially proud to share something close to our hearts: our very own CFO (and the heart of TPM) Beth Duggan is co-hosting an upcoming art show in La Mesa — Mirror Mirror: Reflections From a Woman’s Perspective .
